Applique order and stitching steps
For each applique section, first stitch the placement outline. Lay your fabric over the outline, covering the whole shape. Continue stitching to secure the fabric, then stop and carefully trim the excess fabric close to the stitched outline before moving on to the next section.
Work through the applique sections in this order:
- The large bird’s tail feathers on the left.
- The small bird’s tail feathers on the right.
- The large bird’s body.
- The small bird’s body.
- The eyes: use white fabric for these applique sections.
After the eye appliques, continue with the pupils, then the wings, legs, beaks, and heart. These details are embroidered directly and do not need any additional applique fabric.
